Michael Nicklin was
born in Carmel,
CA and after a brief three-day stay arrived in Santa
Barbara, CA which remained his home throughout his childhood.
Michael began his acting career at age four when he was cast as one of the Wise Men for the Christmas production at
the Jack & Jill Nursery School. It was then that he first discovered his love for improvisation when his teacher forgot
the props, and Michael decided that space work was essential based on the glaring absence of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
After high
school, Michael left Santa Barbara to attend San Jose
State University’s College of Business. While attending college, he began acting in television commercials and industrials. At age 26, he seized the opportunity to become a managing partner of the talent agency by whom he had been
represented, and became a SAG/AFTRA franchised agent. After representing some
of the top talent in the San Francisco bay area, Michael then made his way back to Southern
California and opened a second agency in Beverly Hills.
After 15 rewarding
years as a talent agent, Michael sold his interest in both agencies and hit the road during the 90s as a motivational speaker
to audiences across the Unites States and internationally on organizational performance improvement. After reading a Wall Street Journal article about corporate CEOs who took acting classes to improve their
presentation skills, Nicklin began studying improvisation with Gary Austin, and subsequently with The Groundlings in Los Angeles.
While continuing
to work internationally as a business consultant and entrepreneur, Michael landed a series regular spot as a recurring on-set contributor for “The George & Alana Show”
co-hosted by George Hamilton and Alana Stewart. His relaxed and easy manner
in front of the cameras interacting with hosts and guests landed him many other recurring apperances on national and syndicated
shows for several years. PLus Media, a New York-based production company was
monitoring morning media for new talent, and when they discovered Michael immediately added him to to their talent roster. Over the next 10 years, he served as a lifestyle trend contributor and was interviewed
on more than 500 national and affiliate news broadcasts.
In 2009, Michael
decided to revisit his passion for acting and began pursuing work in films and scripted television longing to play characters
other than “himself.” Michael has produced more than 100 live events, directed an on-location lifestyle
tv show, segment produced for a syndicated talk show, and directed for theatre in Los Angeles. His production company
presently has numerous projects in various stages of development.
Away from the
business of acting; Michael enjoys exploring nature, hiking, horseback riding and cooking for family and friends. He believes strongly in community service, and volunteers on an ongoing basis. With an unabashed passion for travel, he has visited more than 40 countries. Michael currently resides in Los Angeles.
